Neighborhood Basics

Old Town is a very prosperous area. The poverty rate is well average for the San Diego area. Because Old Town is spread out but has clumps of businesses, you may be able to walk or bike part of the time. But plan on having a car to get around most of the time. Limited public transit is available in Old Town, but it does not serve all areas of the neighborhood. If public transit is a requirement for you, it will be important to live near a stop to avoid very long walks. You will need to drive a reasonable distance to reach the nearest beach.
